From Faro, you can catch a bus to to Beja, and then another to Serpa.
BUS
The best and cheaper way to travel within Portugal is the bus network Rede Expressos – Rede Nacional de Expressos -, which covers the whole country.
The line Lisboa-Serpa costs 15,5 € one way and 28 € two way. It lasts for about three hours and a half. There is an ample choice of departure times.
